Liability vs. Personal Injury: What’s the Difference?

Liability and personal injury insurance are similar in that they protect individuals from various types of injury. They are different, however, in exactly what types of actions they protect against.

For example, general liability insurance protects a person from financial loss due to bodily injury or the destruction of property. In most cases, the event in question was an accident and the person or business that committed the act held no ill will or malicious intent towards the injured party.

Personal injury, however, can be quite a different story. This type of injury can take the form of libel and slander, false arrest or making false claims about a product or service. In this case, the person committing the act knew what they were doing was wrong and chose to do it anyway with little regard or concern for the victim.
